Here's why...
I have a pair or dice. However, the odd numbers are negatives. If I roll them both and add the total, which of these is impossible to make?
A) 3 - A 4 and a -1
B) 7 - Impossible to make because the highest even number is 6 and the odd numbers are negative.
C) 8 - Two 4's
Seems like it's going to be an even playing field,
